Jetavana Vihara,Jetavana Mahavihara

Sudata was the wealthy merchant of Sravasti at the time of Prasenajita, Prasenajita was the king of Sravasti. The fame of the Lord Budha reached the Sravasti through the famous merchant Sudata.

At the first meeting with lord Budha he became his follower an invited to Shravasti. But Lord Budha could not accept the request of Sudata, because there was no monasteries (Vihara) to recieve them.

So Sudata returned and tried to search a place that could be suitable site. So in this way near the Sravasti, he
founed a Park of prince Jeta, that could be a suitable site for Lord Budha. But King Jeta demanded exarbitant money like as many Gold pieces, So Sudata agreed.

So this was the first Vihara, buielt by Sudata for the lord Budha and his disciples, called as JETAVAN VIHARA or JETAVAN Garden.or Jetvana Mahavihara
